Trump’s EU Trade Deal Smashes Globalism

The AFP report on Trump’s trade deal with the EU at the weekend omits to note three significant consequences that have resulted from it (The Mercury, July 29).

Since Trump announced his worldwide tariffs policy on April 2, the talking heads of the globalists and the Left have been predicting total disaster. Former Democratic Treasury Secretary Larry Summers warned of the eruption of an indefinite trade war. In meltdown mode, Trump Derangement Syndrome-afflicted Joe Scarborough of MSNBC claimed Trump was “directly destroying the stock market in bursts of economic dementia.”

Nothing of the sort has happened. The Dow Jones Index is at record highs. In June alone, the US experienced an inflow of $27 billion earned from Trump’s tariff charges. Countries have been falling over themselves to negotiate trade deals with the Trump Administration so as to escape the punitive 30% pegging that commences on 1 August 2025.

What all this means in terms of the control of information is that the globalists and their Democrat fellow travellers have not only lost the plot. More significantly, they no longer control the narrative of world economics. Trump’s brazen implementation of his trade and tariff strategy has destroyed the credibility of the soothsayers and naysayers. The mass media has no choice but to abandon its failed anti-Trump agenda—or lose further viewership and readership.

The second consequence of Trump’s trade deal with the EU has upended the green agenda. By requiring the EU to make $750 billion in purchases of US oil, liquefied natural gas and nuclear technology while at the same time facilitating the entry of American cars into Europe, the go-green lobby and its regulations have been stymied.

The third consequence is that by wrapping up one big trade deal after another, Trump is running circles around the globalist, Orwellian World Economic Forum (WEF). His trade deal with the EU pulls the EU away from the WEF while at the same time further distancing the US from its clutches.

In short, Trump’s EU trade deal smashes globalism. By snatching control of the narratives on information dissemination, the false Green New Deal, and global economics, Trump has ushered in twilight time for globalist puppets Macron of France, Starmer of the UK, and others. The liberating effects of Trump’s policies will invigorate the nationalist parties of Farage in the UK, Le Pen in France, and the AFD in Germany and put other WEF stooges like Albanese of Australia on notice.

For South Africa, there is a fourth consequence of Trump’s trade deal with the EU. While trade links across the northern Atlantic are set to boom and tariffs fall to 15%, thanks to the ideologically hidebound ANC, we face a lockout from US markets and a 30% tariff barrier. But, hopefully, the ANC’s self-inflicted stupidity will further hasten its demise.
