Disarmament Is The Ultimate Aim Of Firearms Control

Ideological strategy is the answer to the question posed by a private security firm as to who is behind the new gun regulatory proposals regarding private firearm usage (The Mercury, April 4).

One of the key objectives of those who seek to establish a Marxist society is the disarmament of the civilian population. It is part of a nine-point roadmap provided by Saul Alinsky in his two books, Reveille for Radicals and Rules for Radicals, which Marxists and their globalist ilk follow in establishing Orwellian totalitarianism. The other eight objectives involve state control of health, welfare, property, education and religion while promoting class warfare, economic impoverishment and debt.

Unlike the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, which unconditionally gives individuals the right to bear arms, nowhere in the South African Constitution is there any reference to such a right. On the contrary, gun ownership is a privilege, not a right. Worse still, there is no reference to self-defence in either the 2000 Firearms Control Act or its 2022 amended version.

The proliferation of private security firms has long been a thorn in the side of the ANC because it is contrary to its goal of total state control of arms. Ironically, it is the ANC’s inability to provide a police service worthy of its name to combat crime that is the direct cause of citizens having to hire private security.

Significantly, gun-free zones (in violation of the 2nd amendment) in Democrat-controlled cities in the US have neither deterred mass shootings nor violent crime involving firearms, exemplified by the average of 50 shootings that occur every weekend in Chicago. Disarming law-abiding citizens actually emboldens rogue elements and criminals.

Of course, there is no logic in proposals that further restrict the usage of firearms in South Africa, which has the highest murder and rape statistics in the world. But then, class warfare, anarchy, and dystopia are conditions Marxists cultivate to impose dictatorship.

Are the political opponents of the ANC aware of the Alinsky roadmap? If not, they are unworthy of the role they claim to play. Disarmament is the ultimate aim of firearms control.
