Democrats Committed To Dismantling Democracy

Reuters report summing up the closure of the Democratic Party’s Chicago congress by claiming  Kamala Harris’s “racial roots as best suited” to America’s future, totally evades the actual issues at stake in the 2024 US election (The Mercury, August 23).

Of course, trying to divine what Harris stood for was impossible. She failed to present any policy direction in her closing address. Instead, she confined herself to the vacuous slogan “charting a new way forward,” yelling “we are not going back” and repeating untruths about Trump. As RF Kennedy jr opined, “Who needs a policy when you have Trump to hate.”

Nonetheless, there are some significant outcomes from the Democrats’ Congress. First, the object lesson by “the Party of democracy” was the disenfranchisement of Democrat voters. Harris was installed as presidential candidate by the elitist cabal despite zero support from rank-and-file Democrats.

Second, the “surge of support” for Harris, engineered by the mass media, has no basis because she cannot escape her association with the failed and unpopular policies of the Biden regime. In particular, as the “border czar,” she is accountable for the invasion of ten million aliens and the rocketing crime, drug and human trafficking that has resulted.

Third, the reality is that the Democrat ticket is actually committed to the dismantling of democracy by political weaponisation of the justice system against its opponents. It applies this by violating several constitutional rights – free speech and religious tolerance, the bearing of arms, security of property, due process of law, and states’ rights (sections 1, 2, 4, and 10).

Fulfilment of the plea by the Washington Post for “serious ideas to address the demands of the times” is not going to come from the Harris/Walz candidacy. Instead, the Post and its media allies should recognise the significance of Robert F Kennedy’s decision to pitch his support for the Trump campaign as the only option to save democracy and to safeguard the American republic from totalitarianism.
