Once again, the influence of the mass media’s narratives is evident from the regurgitation of opinions expressed by its followers. Mohamed Saeed’s take on the shooting of ICE opponent, Renee Good, in Minnesota is a case in point (The Mercury, January 12).
Although Good’s death was unfortunate, Saeed’s assertion that it was the result of “state violence” is not only incorrect but also shows ignorance of the task ICE agents are carrying out.
It was made very clear by several Trump Administration spokesmen that it is a Federal offence to hinder, interfere with, spit at, strike or in any way endanger the life of ICE agents.
Despite that, Democratic Governors Walz of Minnesota and Pritzker of Illinois have encouraged citizens to harass, oppose and resist the task of ICE agents rounding up illegal aliens, which the Democrats permitted to invade the US by the million.
Thanks to the virtual incitement of those Democrat governors and others in Oregon and Washington states, there has been a 1,300% increase in attacks on ICE agents over the past eleven months. Assisting this wanton flouting of the law, Democrats have provided a WhatsApp service for people to call in and report locations of ICE agents so that activists can rush in to confront and hinder them.
Such conduct from those who chorus that ‘no one is above the law’ exposes them not only as hypocrites but also as being un-American for defending those whose presence in the US is illegal and criminal because they deliberately flouted immigration laws and procedures.
Renee Good was a regular in protesting and confronting ICE agents, such was the influence of the inflammatory language of Governor Walz in demonizing the task of ICE agents.
Thus, the blame for the consequences of her actions, whereby she used her vehicle as a lethal weapon, defied ICE agents ordering her to exit the vehicle and intentionally accelerated it towards ICE agents, belongs to Walz and his ilk.
