If analysts like Dugan Brown (The Mercury, February 2) want to remain relevant, they are going to have to accept that President Trump has made their globalist narrative obsolete.

Trump has flipped the geopolitical chessboard against globalism whilst simultaneously doing what no other Western so-called leader is doing, namely, erecting roadblocks on China’s imperial ambitions through tariffs, trade, America First policy and military deterrence.

Dugan writes critically of “unrestrained power,” of which he accuses Trump. But he is silent about China’s unrestrained encroachment in the Indo-Pacific, Greenland and through ownership of industry in Western countries.

Brown bases his narrative on the issue of legitimacy with which he uncritically associates EU countries, but by implication asserts that Trump’s foreign policy lacks legitimacy. Wrong, Dugan Brown.

Trump is the only leader of a Western state who has a solid, legitimate mandate. No globalist leader of any European country, including Carney of Canada, can boast of that. In fact, the majority of Europeans and Canadians would sack their so-called leaders tomorrow if they had the chance.

Trump rightly has contempt for the globalist EU for the following reasons: its betrayal of Western values through mass migration of unassimilable people, censorship of free speech, bureaucratic dictatorship and its insistence on perpetuating conflict in Ukraine by providing finance as a means of provoking a full-scale war in Europe.

Brown’s view that Trump’s foreign policy is strengthening BRICS is also off-key because the main components of BRICS are each tending their own agendas. India has strong trade ties with the US. Russia is wary of China’s geopolitical ambitions. Brazil is mired in failed socialist policies. ANC-misguided foreign policy has cast South Africa as a supporter of Iran and a foe of Israel while simultaneously being at odds with America. BRICS, like globalism, is obsolete.

The most conspicuous omission in Brown’s attempt to de-legitimise Trump’s foreign policy is a reference to his Board of Peace to which 59 states are aligned and which has the approval of the UN Security Council. The establishment of the Board of Peace outstrips anything that any other leader has achieved and deserves serious credit.

Few people understood President Trump’s reference during his inaugural address to bringing about “a golden age.” But in less than a month the meaning of that reference is becoming clearly apparent.

Virtuous revolutions are those that occur as a result of the will of the people. On the cusp of the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence, Trump is leading a return to America’s roots based on the will of the people as expressed on November 5, 2024.

Trumpism is a response to globalism which seeks to subvert national sovereignty and the values on which Western civilisation was built – individual liberty, religious freedom and respect for tradition and heritage.

Last week Europe had a taste of Trumpism when Vice President JD Vance addressed a gathering of Europe’s elites in Munich. Unpacking his theme of ‘shared values,’ Vance severely upbraided the elites for “Soviet-era” treatment of their fellow citizens by censoring and criminalising freedom of speech.

“The threat I worry about most regarding Europe is not Russia or China….it is a threat from within; the retreat of Europe from its most fundamental values, values shared with the US,” declared Vance.

He put Europe on notice that America’s new agenda was one that listens to citizens, protects their rights and promotes Western Civilisation over Orwellian globalism. The US would not stay silent when European elites sought to silence opposition and to subvert election outcomes the likes of which occurred recently in Romania.

Thus, the essence of Trumpism is the reassertion of moral leadership on the world stage by rejecting undemocratic globalism and those, like the ANC which spurn the ‘shared values’ to which Vance referred while accepting US aid and trade benefits.

If BRICS was the brotherhood it claims to be, it would have rushed to guarantee aid to South Africa following its loss of US aid. Instead, BRICS key members are silent. Indeed, it is likely that BRICS becomes an early casualty of Trumpism. Two BRICS countries likely to align with Trump are Russia and India because of shared interests. That would reduce BRICS to socialist-ruled Brazil under Lula, China and the ANC.

As China proceeds to establish strategic trade choke points – the Red Sea, the ‘Silk’ Road to the Middle East, the eastern Pacific while cultivating South America, Panama and seeking a foothold in Greenland – the Cape sea route once again becomes strategically significant as the gateway to the Indian Ocean.

Trumpism is reconfiguring international relations. That means testing times ahead for the ANC’s relations with China.

It is interesting how negative speculation about the effect a Trump presidency would have on South Africa’s trade with the US has suddenly given way to cautious optimism (Business Report, November 11).

Fears that Trump’s tariff-premised trade policy would alienate South Africa and other African states stem from how he pursued matters during his first presidency. But global circumstances are now markedly different with respect to the power blocs that have emerged and the threat of war.

What is not emphasised by the opinion-imposing mass media is that apart from righting matters in the US, Trump’s mission is to blunt the WEF globalists’ Orwellian subversion of nation-states and their subservience to a totalitarian oligarchy.

In that respect, Trump’s trade policy is not aimed at driving countries into the arms of the Orwellian WEF but at shrinking their deceitful influence. In South Africa’s case, it could mean nudging us away from BRICS which, as Professor Michael Walsh states, would have implications with our relations with China, Iran and Russia. A further corollary would then concern attitudes to Israel and Taiwan.

Within 72 hours of Trump’s landslide victory, its implications were apparent:

An upward surge in the US stock market;

The latest migrant caravan headed for the US disbanded in Mexico;

Qatar agreed to evict Hamas leaders;

Hamas now wants to end the war;

The Taliban seeks a new US relationship;

The EU wants to buy US gas, not Russian gas.

China says it wants peaceful co-existence.

Trump’s return to the White House portends a wave of implications worldwide which should be welcomed by all who cherish peace, national sovereignty, liberty and free speech and who strive to live in a God-fearing world.

Instead of stating “SA’s popularity soars among wealthy,” it should read “Western Cape’s popularity soars among wealthy,” as emphasised by the accompanying photo of the Muizenberg beachfront.

Nowhere in the glowing article of the attractiveness of the Western Cape to the wealthy is there any mention of the Natal Midlands or other attractive parts of South Africa. Of course, the elephant in the room regarding this subject is the fact that the flourishing Western Cape is the only province not under ANC control.

As such, the Brics report showing Cape Town as the destination of choice of the wealthy is a stinging reproach of the utter failure of ANC governance of the rest of the country. It also ramps up the case for the independence of the Western Cape from the shambles that is South Africa under the thoroughly corrupt, inept, criminal syndicate which masquerades as a political party.

President Ramaphosa’s appeal for investment to kick start the economy and create jobs (Business Report, April 14) has zero credibility because of the economic and governance fiasco ANC policies and corruption has created.

The Employment Equity Amendment Bill constrains employment conditions by imposing new, stringent demographic, gender and disability levels. As such, it makes job reservation legislation of apartheid look tame by comparison. The fact that the existing employment constraints have promoted unemployment and have not incentivised significant investment is entirely lost on the hidebound ANC. Their solution is to have more of the same poison.

Wilful blindness to the historically proven fact that the imposition of a failed ideology constrains economic development is the ANC’s badge of achievement. But worse still, the Employment Amendment legislation is perpetuating victimhood while creating new victims of those it discriminates against.

Significantly, reported elsewhere in the same newspaper edition, 6,000 Post Office employees face losing their jobs because ANC corruption and legislation has destroyed the Post Office, just like Eskom, SAA, Denel and dozens of other state-owned enterprises.

The 19,000 vacancies in the national Health Department reflect another consequence of ANC rule. Corruption and demographic quotas have discouraged many from seeking vocations in state-run hospitals. Instead their skills are snapped up overseas.

Further retarding job creation is Ramaphosa’s illogical, unscientific, impractical, unaffordable promotion of the WEF’s green energy agenda. The coal industry directly employs 92,000 people, yet Ramaphosa’s masters would have him sacrifice those jobs for wind turbines and solar panels imported from China.

The fifth and latest IPCC report projects a 0,04% reduction in global economic growth per year if global warming was double the Paris agreement target of 1,5 degrees Centigrade. So why are we being threatened by unscientific, delusional environmental policies? China opens an average of two new coal-fired power plants a week. India, too, is rejecting the climate “emergency” spell and embracing its development curve undeterred by the falsehoods propagated about carbon emissions.

A crossroads in global economic order is upon us. There are two choices: Alignment with the US Deep State, criminal syndicate of dollar imperialism, WEF-imposed depopulation through vaccines, false demonization of fossil fuels, wokeism, cancel culture and Orwellian suppression of liberty? Or: with the growing BRICS nations which reject dollar imperialism, globalism and the Paris accord climate hoax; which have some appreciation for the natural order within the human family that is being torn asunder in the so-called Western world as Putin has observed?

Ramaphosa can no longer afford to sit on two stools. Despite misgivings on a range of issues, South Africa would be better off fully aligned with BRICS. Politics makes strange bedfellows.
