The only possible reason Business Report continues to publish the utterly fake articles from the Presidential Climate Commission must be that it is paid to do so. The latest claptrap of February 18 is particularly disgraceful because it has neither scientific nor economic evidence.

The introductory paragraph is a supreme salad of all the buzzwords so favoured by those who deny the incontrovertible reality that climate change is a natural phenomenon. Phrases like “just transition,’ “decent work,” “sustainable economy,” “deepening democracy,” “economic renewal,” are already proven to be fake, phony and false in states like Germany and Democrat- run states in the US like New Jersey, California and Pennsylvania.

What these false prophets avoid is reference to how, without fossil fuels, mining of ore would occur, how planes would get into the sky, and how sustaining an economy comes about when it has been de-industrialised.

Instead of trotting out glib images of new opportunities and referencing codes of good practice (which are only of interest to lawyers to exploit), their pie-in-the-sky narrative never explains how food production will be maintained. Take petroleum products out of life and explain how mass transportation can occur, mass cultivation of crops without diesel tractors, diesel transport, plastic packaging – the list is endless.

What the denialists also avoid is that the cost of batteries to store solar energy is prohibitively expensive. What they are also silent about is the terrible environmental damage that is incurred by the mining of lithium for the batteries that will be required for their “sustainable economy.”

Yet this is what their ‘just transition’ entails – simply to address the concocted calculation that decarbonisation would reduce by 1,5 degrees C what is a historically proven, naturally occurring cycle of warming and cooling periods.

Finally, another falsehood in the February 18 article is that Spain, Germany and Canada are managing their ‘just transition’ well. No, they are not. Unemployment is up, and electricity costs have driven industry away to China and India. Alberta in Canada, which sits on a massive oil reserve, is revolting because of the green regulations which Ottawa imposes.

Journalism without credibility does not belong in Business Report.

The Business Report supplement to The Mercury of May 14 commendably exemplifies the adage ‘hear the other side’ by juxtaposing three articles on the issue of renewable energy, from which it is obvious which ones purvey truth and reality.

The whining of Blessing Manale of the Climate Change Commission about ‘misinformation’ is ironic in the extreme. He wants free speech defended but only if it adheres to the narrative of the World Economic Forum that climate change is caused by fossil fuels. A confused man indeed, particularly as climate change is a natural phenomenon proven by science and history.

Immediately below Manale’s misinformation about fossil fuels is an upbeat article about the anticipated economic boom which oil and gas exploitation heralds for Namibia and its economy. Absolute common sense!

Below that positive report, Dr Adrian Blanck explains how and why Spain and Portugal had a power blackout. It’s the engineering, stupid! is what he unpacks. Renewables, which the Iberian Peninsula has embraced 100%, are unreliable and not sustainable as energy sources because, in the first place, they are intermittent in what they produce, which makes them incompatible with how grids work, besides being ultra expensive.

The best part of Dr Blanck’s broadside on the green fantasy is: “ Engineers, system architects and real specialists must reclaim their voice in energy policy debates…. Europe has no future following absurd decisions by ignorant policy makers.”

That said, one hopes that no further printing ink and space is wasted on the false rhetoric of the likes of Blessing Manale and the devious renewables agenda of the WEF.
